What you can do

Keep the connection between the paper wall and the board you work with next.

Capture a whole wall

Take a photo or choose photos from your library. Peel finds individual notes, crops and straightens them, and keeps their positions and colors. You can adjust a missed note before or after saving.

Make handwriting searchable

Apple's on-device text recognition turns writing on each captured note into editable text. Search it, correct it, and use it in exports.

Organize the board

Group and move notes on a free canvas, snap them to a grid, or let Peel arrange them. Add typed notes, drawings, colors, and favorites.

Open old board archives

Open a previously exported .postit board archive from Files, preview its notes and groups, then choose whether to save it with Peel Pro. Results can vary by archive.

Export and share

With Peel Pro, share a board as PPTX, PDF, XLSX, CSV, plain text, an image, or a ZIP of note images, or share a single note.

Sync with your iCloud

Boards are stored on your device and can sync across your Apple devices through your private iCloud account. The app stays usable locally if iCloud is unavailable.

Already have a saved board? Follow the .postit import guide.

How it works

Start with paper, a photo, or an archive file you already exported.

  1. Capture or open. Photograph a note wall, select photos, or choose a board archive from Files.
  2. Check and arrange. Adjust detected notes, edit recognized text, and move notes into groups.
  3. Keep or share. Work on your free board, use iCloud sync, or unlock Peel Pro for more boards, saved imports, and exports.
About older archives: Peel is an independent app. It can read previously exported .postit files; it cannot restore data from another app's account or service. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by 3M or the Post-it brand.

Privacy, explained plainly

Detection and handwriting recognition run on your device. Peel has no sign-in, advertising SDK, or in-app analytics. Saved boards, including any optional capture location you choose to save, can sync through your private iCloud database. Exports include location only when you opt in for that export.

Frequently asked questions

Can I open old Post-it app boards?
If you previously exported a .postit board archive, Peel can preview the file from Files. Peel Pro is required to save the imported board. The import has been tested on a limited set of archives; formatting and media can vary, so check the preview. Peel cannot access a discontinued service's account data.
What is free?
Capture from camera or photos, handwriting recognition, editing, search, iCloud sync, and one personal board are free without a time limit. Built-in sample boards do not count toward that limit. You can preview an archive before deciding whether to buy Pro.
What does Peel Pro unlock?
Additional personal boards, saving imported boards, and export and sharing. The paywall offers monthly and yearly subscriptions and a one-time Lifetime purchase. There is no free trial; the current price is shown in the app before you buy.
What happens if my subscription ends?
You can still open, view, edit, and delete boards you already created. Actions that require Pro, such as adding another board or exporting, become locked again.
Are photos uploaded for handwriting recognition?
No. Note detection and text recognition use Apple's on-device frameworks. If iCloud sync is available, saved board data including note images and text can sync to your private iCloud database. You can also choose to share or export a copy.
Does Peel use my location?
Save Capture Location is off by default. When you turn it on and use the camera, Peel requests When In Use access and can save coordinates with the capture. Scanning still works without a location. You can remove saved coordinates later. Location is omitted from every export unless you opt in for that export, and only PDF, PowerPoint, and Excel support it.
