How it works

  1. Grant the access you needPhoto Library access is required for scanning and cleanup; other permissions are feature-specific.
  2. Review the suggestionsCompare originals, check quality, and keep anything important.
  3. Confirm changesDeletion asks for confirmation. Photos move to Apple Photos’ Recently Deleted, where recovery is time-limited.
Similarity and blur detection can be wrong. Confirm every selection and keep a separate backup of important media. Photos in Recently Deleted are normally recoverable for a limited time. Compression and conversion can change quality or metadata.

Questions people ask

Can I recover a deleted photo?

Items deleted through PhotoKit move to Recently Deleted in Apple Photos, where they can usually be restored for about 30 days. Open Photos promptly; the app cannot directly undo the deletion.

Where are vault items kept?

Vault files are stored locally. You can export a password-protected backup; keep its password because it cannot be reset for you.
