Benefit Check NZ ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

• Account information: email address and password (stored encrypted) when you register.
• Profile information: details you voluntarily provide to match relevant welfare benefits (e.g. household size, employment status, residency).
• Usage data: features used and app interactions, collected to improve the service.
• Device information: device type, OS version, and app version for support and diagnostics.

• To provide and personalise the Benefit Check NZ service.
• To send transactional emails (e.g. account verification, OTP codes).
• To improve app performance and fix bugs.
• To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

Your data is stored on servers in the Asia-Pacific region (AWS ap-southeast-2). We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (TLS) and at rest. Passwords and sensitive fields are encrypted before storage.

We use the following third-party services which may process your data under their own privacy policies:

• Amazon Web Services (infrastructure and storage)
• Apple App Store / Google Play (subscription management)
• AWS SNS (SMS verification)

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate information.
• Request deletion of your account and associated data.

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, personal data is removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by New Zealand law.

Benefit Check NZ is not intended for children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
