1
Overview

Benefit Check AU ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

2
Information We Collect
  • Account information: if you sign in, we store your email address and, where applicable, an Apple or Google sign-in identifier. Email sign-in uses a one-time code; we do not ask you to create an app password.
  • Profile information: details you voluntarily provide to match relevant welfare benefits (e.g. household size, employment status, residency, state or territory).
  • Usage data: app interaction events, such as starting a questionnaire, question identifiers, report totals, and purchase flow events, may be processed through Firebase Analytics to help us understand and improve the service.
  • Device information: device type, OS version, and app version for support and diagnostics.
3
How We Use Your Information
  • To provide and personalise the Benefit Check AU service.
  • To send transactional emails (e.g. account verification, OTP codes).
  • To improve app performance and fix bugs.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

4
Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on servers in the Asia-Pacific region (AWS ap-southeast-2, Sydney). We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (TLS) and at rest. Account and questionnaire data are held on our servers.

5
Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services which may process your data under their own privacy policies:

  • Amazon Web Services (infrastructure and storage)
  • Apple App Store (subscription management)
  • Apple and Google (sign-in, when you choose those options)
  • Amazon SES (email one-time codes)
  • Firebase Analytics (app usage events)
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notification delivery)
6
Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe we have breached the APPs.
7
Data Retention

We retain personal data while needed to provide the service. When in-app account deletion completes, the account and related data for this app are removed from active systems, except where retention is required by Australian law.

8
Children's Privacy

Benefit Check AU is not intended for children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9
